|Gordon Mitchell was born in Edinburgh in 1952. He trained at Edinburgh College of Art where he completed his post-graduate studies in Fien Art. In 1998 he was elected member of the Royal Scottish Academy and The Royal Galsgow Institute.
He is one of the finest contemporary draughtsman and imaginary painters of his generation. His paintings range over many subjects, from fruit and ceramic vessels to his human forms represented as pieces of weathered timber. He is a master of the unexpected juxtaposition and constantly delights his many admireres with his technical brilliance and offbeat sense of humour.
Gordon Mitchell is currently living and working in Edinburgh.
He has held many exhibitions both in the UK and around the world and his art is much sought after.
